A survey conducted by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) has confirmed something that many people would agree with: dogs are man's best friend. The survey found that 92% of respondents believe their overall health and happiness has benefited from having a pet in their life. The survey also found that:
- 76% of respondents believe having a pet reduces their overall level of stress
- 65% of respondents believe their mental health has improved or benefited from having a pet
- 31% of respondents feel their physical fitness has improved or increased due to exercising their pets
The survey also confirms that pet owners largely consider their animals members of the family, and are concerned about their pets' overall health and well-being. Ninety-three percent of respondents said they take their pets in for regular checkups, and 48% of respondents said they had taken time off from work to be with a sick pet.
Regardless of whether you're a dog person or a cat person, having a pet in your life can be truly rewarding experience. If you are interested in bringing an animal into your life, it's important to make sure you do your research to ensure you find the right type of pet for your lifestyle. When you find the right pet, you'll experience firsthand the joy so many people have come to know, love, and appreciate.
