Feeding Your Bird Fruit

One treat that birds love to eat is fruit and you can feed your pet bird a variety of fruits that are pre-chopped before inserted into its cage.
When you're offering your bird chopped fruit, you may notice that there is a lot of juice, which can make feedings messier than usual. To absorb some of the natural fruit juice, try mixing the sliced fruit with a few Cheerios. But remember, just mix in a few Cheerios as this cereal contains iron which can be hazardous to your pet in large doses.
If you're wondering which types of fruit you can feed your bird, consider blueberries, apples, bananas, pears, oranges, grapes, and pomegranates. The latter is particularly tasty to birds and is a very healthy fruit for your pet to eat. Also, keep in mind that most fruit has a lot of sugar. For this reason, fruit should only make up about 5% of your bird's diet.
