Recent studies show that one of the best ways to lose weight is to involve your favorite furry friend.
Those individuals who own dogs are more likely to stay within their guidelines for daily activities, says one animal behaviorist in the United Kingdom. Just by taking your dog out on daily walks, you are more likely to walk faster, which will also translate into a more active lifestyle.
In fact, 66 percent of people who own dogs take walks simply because of their pets. Therefore, it would be safe to assume that if these people did not own dogs, they would not nearly be as active. The same figures apply to those who have small children at home as well.
Not only does owning a dog keep you more physically fit, it strengthens the bonds of your community. By getting out of your home, visiting parks and other open areas, you are more likely to interact with fellow community members says the behaviorist.
