With Christmas and New Year's right around the corner, you are most likely enjoying festive times and preparing delicious treats for your family and friends. However, if you have a dog, remember that it is important to watch what it eats during the holidays.
Dogs find it hard to resist rich, fatty foods and you certainly should not be feeding your pet these types of table scraps. Foods that are high in fat can wreak havoc on a dog's internal health and cause problems like stomach upsets and even pancreatitis.
Another danger is alcohol. Indulging in libations is part of the season, but be sure that your dog cannot get into drinks. Alcohol can lead to pets becoming intoxicating and strangely - many dogs are attracted to it. Yet, it is important that you keep your dog away from liquor filled beverages as hundreds of pets die every year from alcohol consumption.
Finally, try to keep your dog away from chocolate and coffee which contains dangerous xanthenes that can cause damage to its nervous system or urinary system.
