Dog Potty Training Tips

During the first few months of dog potty training, it is important that you exercise patience. It will take time for your dog to get used to going outside. It may also take awhile for your dog to know what it is supposed to do while it is outside - so give it the time its needs to relieve itself and do not rush it.
Try to watch for signs that your dog has to go outside. Your dog may whine, sniff around the house or even scratch at the door to let you know that it wants to go outside.
If your dog makes a mistake inside of the house, do not use harsh words or scold it. It does not know what it is doing wrong and may not understand why you are upset.
Whenever your dog goes outside successfully, make sure that you praise it verbally and with affection. You may also want to consider giving your dog a treat as a reward for its good behavior.
