Choosing the Right Sized Bird

All too often, people will go to their local pet store and once they are inside they will find themselves confronted with the face of a beautiful, lively and enchanting parrot that says "Hello!" Almost instantly, people will fall in love with the bird, buy the parrot and head home with an animal they know nothing about.
While having a pet bird is a great thing, all bird breeds are different and some sizes and breeds are more appropriate for people than others.
A general rule that many people are aware of is "the bigger the bird, the bigger the responsibility". Birds that are a lot bigger are exceptional companions, but they demand a lot more than a smaller bird breed. They are also louder, messier, and moodier, which is why buying a large bird is not something people should rush into.
If you're thinking about adding a bird to your family, it is a good idea to start with a breed that is smaller in size first before moving onto a bird that is larger, like a parrot.
