Choosing Toys for Your Cats

In the market for a new cat toy for your adult male/female or little kitten? Before you invest in any toys, know what makes them safe for your cat.
A safe toy must be sturdy and stable. Keep in mind, toys will get tossed, chewed on, kicked, and thrown, so they must hold up without coming apart. Many cat owners purchase catnip toys only to find that the fabric becomes shredded within a week. Stick to toys that stand the test of time.
Some toys have removable parts which may not be safe for your cat. You want to make sure that when your cat is playing with a toy, parts do not come off as he or she may swallow the part, which can be dangerous.
Last of all, make sure that you pick a toy that is fun. Toys are great for stimulating cats' brains and can provide hours of entertainment. However, if toys do not stimulate, chances are that your cat will lose interest rather quickly.
