Trimming Your Bird's Nails

If you're a bird owner, you know that their claws can get very sharp and lead to scrapes and cuts. Therefore, cutting your bird's nails is part of your job as an owner and this task needs to be done on a regular basis. If you're finding it difficult to cut your bird's nails, consider the following suggestions:
First, think about wrapping your bird in a towel if it gets freaked out when you're cutting its nails. This will not only provide you with a firm grip on your pet, but also prevent it from feeling overly anxious.
Second, be careful how much you trim. You really only need to trim the end of your bird's nails, which is the sharp-pointed area.
Finally, work as fast as you can. Even though you have your bird securely wrapped in a towel, it still may be anxious and even frightened as you cut its nails. You'll want to get the job done as quickly as possible so your pet can relax, but be careful as you work as well.
