Fleas can become a real nuisance for cat owners, which is why you must be on the lookout for signs of an infestation. Some signs may be apparent, but there are some that can easily be overlooked. Below, several signs are highlighted:
Does your cat scratch its coat or bite itself? If so, your cat may have fleas. When fleas bite your cat's skin, it becomes very itchy and will cause your cat to scratch for relief.
Does your cat constantly groom itself? While grooming is certainly normal, if it becomes excessive, it may be a sign of a flea infestation. If your cat is constantly licking itself, it is time to seek flea treatment.
Is your cat losing its hair? Bald spots along your pet's tail and legs can be an indication that it has fleas.
To treat a flea infestation, you'll want to invest in flea and tick treatments. These can be found at your local pet store or you can usually obtain such treatments by visiting your local veterinarian. If treatments prove ineffective, it is a good idea to schedule an appointment with your vet to discuss flea removal options immediately.
