Controlling Barking

Barking is just a natural way for dogs to communicate with one another, however, when your dog's barking becomes too excessive, it can lead to more serious problems. In order to correct excessive barking in dogs, there are a few tips to keep in mind.
Follow through is important when you are attempting to instill good habits in your dog. When you instruct your dog to stop barking, use a sound, a look or a physical correction. Wait a moment, and if your dog starts barking again, take the time to make the same gesture of disapproval. It is important to remain calm while you are disciplining your dog, even if you are frustrated and angry with it. Take control of the situation in a calm way and your dog will soon learn who the boss is.
Remember, if you continue to correct your dog and make the effort to train it, over time, the barking should no longer be a problem. If you have additional concerns about your dog's barking, you should consult with your veterinarian about training programs.
